21st Century Energy Medicine Program with Deborah King

For the last 11 months I have been a student in  Deborah King’s, 21st Century Energy Medicine Program. It’s been a great opportunity to spend roughly a 1/2 hour each week learning about the many different tools and techniques used in healing practices from not only today, but from ancient traditions that are thousands and thousands of years old. I learned about things like sound healing, did character studies on the schizoid and the psychopath, amongst others, and practiced recapitulation and also meditation. Deborah is a big proponent of meditation. We also have a call once a month to do a little housekeeping and to ask those burning questions, like, ‘Why do I keep falling asleep while I am meditating?’ Part of completing this year long program, you have to attend at least 4 retreats, one which must be in person, others can be attended via live web feed. 2 weeks ago I headed down the coast to Pacific Grove, California to Asilomar to get my ‘in person’ requirement completed. She also holds workshops on the east coast at Kripalu and her 2011 schedule is packed with additional opportunities all over the country. Who is Deborah King? Deborah is one of the many Hay House authors who offer their talents via a once a week, live, call-in show on hayhouseradio.com. She is billed as an author, lecturer, contemporary healer, and recognized expert in the health and wellness field. She has appeared on reputable network television and appears in public, lecturing and giving workshops on how Truth Heals, which is also the title of one of her books. Deborah has...

The World Outside

While the purpose of this site and the work I am choosing to expose is all about the journey within, sometimes there are places outside, physical locations, that are worth the trip. Some may be retreat centers where wellness professionals will hold workshops, some are places where heaven and earth collide and some are both. It took me months, maybe years and hundreds of conversations to discover these places of pure beauty and grace. Here, I’ll make it easy for you. When I arrived in California almost 11 years ago, I drove out to Lincoln Avenue in San Francisco and stood on a cliff overlooking the Pacific ocean. With the Golden Gate bridge to my right, a never ending coastline to my left and the steady drumming of the waves crashing below, I knew I was home. I knew there was knowledge here and I was ready to learn. There is something about California… Clear I don’t think I’ve seen a more beautiful day My mind is clear and my feet are steady I approach each situation with a blissful resistance Questions float like whispers of truth, out from my mouth My spirit is light, my soul has taken control I know who I am and am confident in it’s presence The wind is my God It takes me to the edge of the sea I hear there, all I need to know I take a moment to bask in the glory of life I return full of knowledge I have been enlightened by the purpose of being This was my first published poem. I wrote it in 2003…...

The BPC (Blue Print Cleanse)

When my eating habits get out of hand and I can’t seem to pull myself out of a rut, there’s nothing like a cleanse to get me back on track. I’ve done all sorts of cleanses ranging from 3-day cleanses to 28-day ones. Each offer their own benefits. The long term ones I do to check in on how I react to certain foods and then also to remind myself to be mindful of what I consume. Weight-loss, detoxification and clarity of mind also play big roles in why I choose to cleanse. I unfortunately am an emotional eater and when life gets a little crazy, I forget to care, I go back to old behaviors and next thing you know, I am up 6-8 pounds. I’ve done Weight Watchers and Atkins and have had success with both. I’m not a fan of counting calories/points or deprivation and I strive to be the type of person who naturally chooses the right foods and can maintain their weight. I had a nice run of it for almost a year following Kathy Freston’s, Quantum Wellness: A Practical and Spiritual Guide to Health and Happiness. Yes, this was the one Oprah did. I loved it and felt the best I ever have. I naturally adjusted my behaviors as well to support an even stronger set of healthy habits (more consistent workout, less booze, etc.). After the 28-day cleanse I continued to not eat meat or eggs, limited my sugar, gluten and dairy intake and easily ate normal portions. But then there was a bump in the road and next thing I knew...

139th Tranformational Gate – Saturday & Sunday

I will say right off the bat – – the San Francisco Gates are never as good as the Colorado ones. There’s something about being 6,000 feet above the buzzing of the world below and the clean crisp air of Westminster. Last years SF Gate was in the center of downtown which seemed off and this year they tried the Westin at the airport. Eh. There’s still a vibration that doesn’t match up with the energy needed for a Gate…. even if you never leave the hotel. What happens at a Gate? Well, the weekend portion is comprised of 6 entrainments from one of 15-20 NSA Practitioners that have flown in from all over the US. The 6 adjustments are split into 3 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday with other activities, like SRI and Salsa dancing in between. Like your visit to your regular NSA office, everyone gets checked in one room. Since there can be up to 500 participants, split into 2 groups, you are usually in a really big room. Each Practitioner has 4 tables and Donny has about 6 in the center of the room. People rotate on and off the tables until everyone in your group has been entrained. Having a series of adjustments in a row really allows you to leap forward in your level of care. Mental or physical issues that might have taken 2-3 months to work through, can shift in one weekend. Socializing with the Network community is also a big part of the Gate. Being surrounded by like-minded people for the weekend is a great opportunity to talk about...

Friday night at the 139th Transformational Gate

Oh, Donny! Before I share a few Donny-isms from the talk on Friday, it’s probably a great time to share an excerpt from the book I am shopping right now, THE SOUL TRAVELERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY: 25 People and Programs that Will Change the Way You See the World. I wrote this about NSA and Donny. One of my most favorite things about this work is that all you have to do is show up. Granted, the first time you head to an NSA office might be because your back went out – – or maybe you can’t turn your head, but the effort first required in care is minimal. But that can also be the deterrent. Not everyone has transformative experiences in the first few months of care. You might have to keep in mind that you are retraining your body to release old patterns and you are in if for the long term affects…I often say, Donny is an alien. As he works, he dips in and out of this world weaving together the information that we use to function in our daily lives with that which is yet to be in our grasp. His one-liners are priceless “Girl, you’ve been driving with the parking brake on and it stinks, pee-yew”, and his innovative, brilliant technique is by far the most direct and attainable discipline available. Donny delivers his lectures with a crass New York accent, which is inviting and equalizing. During his retreats you are challenged by your out-of-this-world experiences but are reminded of your humanness when he speaks… Since the Friday night session is...
