The Juice Press

While I am a big fan of juicing, I technically haven’t stepped beyond my comfort zone in the process… until last week. I totally dig the BPC (now available at Whole Foods in Tribeca, YAY!) and hear the Cooler Cleanse is very similar. I have looked for less expensive options in the past and in San Francisco I used to do my own version with juices from Frapez in the Castro. While they weren’t all the tastiest, I managed to find my perfect mix. Since my arrival on the east coast I decided to investigate what the local juicers here were serving up. Technically the BPC is local, but they are still pricey even without delivery – – I will need to calculate the price tag of purchasing them singly from Whole Foods. I was recently at a Sunday Clear Day (think healing body work community get-together) in Brooklyn and someone mentioned Fresh Press. I did my research and didn’t find anything except this little joint on 1st Street in the East Village. Enter The Juice Press. Holy Monkey. Before I go into how intense the juices are, I would like to mention that during this process I had my first celebrity (reality) sighting since I’ve been back. It was very fitting too, Eric from the Real World NY Season One. Last time I lived in NYC it was 2000 and I still feel like I am in a bit of a time warp, so seeing Eric brought a smile to my face. He was a little more cleaned up (than this pic) when I saw him scarfing down...
